Welcome to the website of Arnout Hemel & Saskia de Jongh. This site is intended to keep our family and friends informed of our where-abouts during our travels.

At the moment we are traveling with our own car through Africa. We did not have a real plan when we started, but it seems we are going to drive all the way from South Africa to Holland.

By the way: we are Saskia de Jongh and Arnout Hemel, both from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We are happily married since July 5th 2003, so this is our honeymoon...

We both quit our jobs: Arnout used to work as internet-project manager at Info.nl and Saskia used to be a consultant at Accenture. We rented our apartment in Amsterdam to friends, who were happy to increase their living space from 40 to 65 square meter.

So now we are jobless, homeless, married and extremely happy to have the opportunity to travel again an explore the planet!

You could say we like to travel. Just 2 days after we met we spent a weekend in London, after a month we travelled through South-Africa and after 10 months we left for our first big trip overland from Cairo (Egypt) to Sulawesi (Indonesia).

For 14 months we travelled by public transport through Syria, Iran, India, Tibet, Borneo and many other countries and had the time of our life, this time we hope to learn a lot about Africa.
